Most Recent Winner of Jeanne Robertson’s Comedy with Class Humor Competition

Tara Brown performs clean and family-friendly comedy across the country. The nationally touring headlining comedians she has shared stages with have included Theo Von, Ilana Glazer, Cristela Alonzo, Josh Wolf, Jon Reep, Jeff Allen, Ryan Hamilton, Preacher Lawson, Janelle, James, Karen Mills, John Crist, Jimmie “JJ Walker, and the late John Witherspoon.  She has been featured in Newsweek, the New York Post, the Charlotte Observer, the Lancaster News, Carolina Gateway, the Charlotte Post, WBTV-TV, WJZY-TV, WBT Radio, WFAE.com and CLTure.org. CharlotteFive.com named her as one of “The Standup Comedians You Need to Know in Charlotte;” while Queen City Nerve named her as “Best Comedian” for 2019 in their “Best of the Nest Readers’ Picks.” In addition, Tara is the most recent winner of the “Jeanne Robertson’s Comedy with Class Humor Competition.”

Tara was a winner of the “Fight Night” and “Comedy Battle” competitions at The Comedy Zone in Charlotte; and was a multi-year finalist for “Comedian of the Year” by the Queen City Awards.  She was also a 2018 and 2019 CrowdPlay Events Resident, and a 2019 resident at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City.

In addition to performing in comedy clubs, theaters, casinos, stadiums, churches and on virtual platforms; Tara has performed for private corporations, non-profits, civic organizations, sororities and for ministries and faith-based groups. She was a featured performer at the Big Pine Comedy Festival, Laughlin Laugh Festival, the Oak City Comedy Festival, the North Carolina Comedy Festival, for the Queen City Comedy Experience; and the Laugh After Dark Comedy Fest. Tara was also featured on the “Kill Tony” podcast. Tara is also a sought-after speaker, panelist and presenter, and has performed in those capacities for Blumenthal Performing Arts, Diversity On and Off Stage and for Creative Mornings Charlotte. Tara is also the producer and host of family-friendly comedy shows.

Tara can be seen on the 2nd season of the television show “Stand Up Nashville” on the Circle Network; on Dry Bar Comedy; and on the high seas performing on Carnival Cruises.
